CartAbandon

WooCommerce abandoned cart recovery without a heavy plugin

CartAbandon works like a WooCommerce abandoned cart plugin, but runs on our servers instead of yours. You connect your store with WooCommerce REST API keys, set discount limits and turn on flows. It recovers carts, checkouts, declined cards and WooCommerce Subscriptions renewals by email, SMS and WhatsApp.

A hosted service keeps your store fast and your server quiet

Many WooCommerce abandoned cart plugins run inside WordPress. They store every cart in your database, run their own scheduled tasks and send emails from your server. On a busy store that means more database rows, more background jobs and more load during sales.

CartAbandon takes that work off your server.

Typical plugin inside WordPress CartAbandon
Where the logic runs On your hosting, inside WordPress On our servers
What loads on your store Plugin code on every request One small async storefront script
Database growth Cart tables in your database Carts tracked on our side
Sending Often through your host's mail Through dedicated email and SMS providers
Channels Usually email only Email, SMS, WhatsApp, web push, onsite offer
Decisions Same flow for everyone Channel, timing and offer per cart
Updates You update the plugin Nothing to update

The storefront script uses only first-party, strictly necessary identifiers and fires no ad pixels before consent.

Connect your store with REST API keys in a few minutes

  1. Create keys. In WooCommerce settings, open the REST API section and create a key with read and write access for CartAbandon.
  2. Paste them in. Enter your store URL and the keys in the CartAbandon panel. Keys are stored encrypted.
  3. Add the script. Add the small storefront script so CartAbandon can see carts and returning shoppers.
  4. Set guardrails. Choose your maximum discount, minimum margin, no-discount lists, quiet hours and frequency caps.
  5. Turn on flows. The AI drafts your first messages in your brand voice. Review them and switch the flows on.

You can revoke the keys in WooCommerce at any time, and CartAbandon loses access at once.

Every stage where a WooCommerce sale slips away

Most stores with a plugin only send one cart email. CartAbandon covers each moment a sale can be lost.

  • Browse, cart and checkout abandonment on every plan
  • Exit intent offers onsite, as a mobile-safe popup or slide-in
  • Failed payments and declined cards on one-time orders, from Growth
  • Back in stock and price drop alerts, from Growth
  • Subscription dunning and churn recovery, from Scale
  • Retargeting audiences synced as hashed lists, from Scale

WooCommerce Subscriptions renewals get fixed, not discounted

When a WooCommerce Subscriptions renewal fails, the customer has not left. Their card did. CartAbandon reads the decline code and sends the right message.

Insufficient funds gets a payment update message with a secure link and a retry timed to a payday pattern. An expired card gets a request to update details. No discount goes out, because the customer already chose to subscribe. These notices are transactional and kept apart from marketing messages. Subscription dunning is on Scale and Plus.

Add SMS and WhatsApp with consent built in

WooCommerce stores often have only email recovery. CartAbandon adds texts and WhatsApp, included in plan limits, with no per-message bill.

Messages go only to shoppers with recorded consent for that channel. Consent source and time are stored per contact. Every email has one-click unsubscribe, every text honors STOP, and quiet hours follow the shopper's time zone. Read more on abandoned cart SMS and WhatsApp abandoned cart messages.

Your margin stays protected on every recovered order

A plugin usually sends the same coupon to everyone. CartAbandon checks the shopper first. On Growth and up, the Recovery Brain skips the discount for returning customers and high-value carts and offers one only to price-sensitive first-time buyers.

Codes are unique and single use. Every decision is logged with a plain-English reason, so you can see why a shopper got a text instead of an email, or no offer at all.

FAQ

Questions about woocommerce abandoned cart plugin

Is CartAbandon a WordPress plugin?

No. It is a hosted service that connects to WooCommerce with REST API keys and one small storefront script. The recovery logic runs on our servers, not on your hosting.

Will it slow down my WooCommerce store?

No. The script loads asynchronously, and there are no cart tables or scheduled jobs added to your WordPress database.

Does it support WooCommerce Subscriptions?

Yes. On Scale and Plus, CartAbandon runs dunning for failed WooCommerce Subscriptions renewals, with retries timed to the decline code.

Can I remove my current abandoned cart plugin?

Yes. Once CartAbandon flows are on, you can turn off the old plugin so shoppers do not get two messages. Frequency caps also help while you switch.

What access do the API keys give?

They let CartAbandon read carts, orders, customers and stock and create single-use discount codes. Keys are stored encrypted, and you can revoke them in WooCommerce at any time.
