Returning customer, 480 USD cart, SMS consent
Why this message. Loyal buyer with a high-value cart. A quick reminder is enough, so we keep your margin.
CartAbandon is abandoned cart software for Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento stores. It runs ten recovery flows, from browse and cart abandonment to failed payments and churn, across email, SMS, WhatsApp, web push and onsite offers. For each cart it picks the channel, the delay and whether a discount is needed at all.
Most stores recover sales with a pile of apps. One sends cart emails. Another sends texts. A third shows popups. A fourth chases failed cards. Each one bills you in a different way, and none of them can tell you what recovery really earned.
CartAbandon puts every lost-revenue moment in one place. It is also called shopping cart abandonment software, but carts are only part of the job. The same panel handles checkouts, declined cards, subscription renewals, lapsed buyers, stock alerts and price drops. You see one number at the top: "Recovered this month" next to "CartAbandon cost".
Here is every flow CartAbandon runs. The starting delay is the default you see when you turn a flow on. You can edit it. On Growth and up, the Recovery Brain adjusts the delay per cart, from minutes to days.
| Flow | What triggers it | Starting delay | Channels | Plan |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Browse abandonment | A known shopper views a product and leaves | A few hours | Email, web push | Starter and up |
| Cart abandonment | Items added to cart, no checkout | About 1 hour | Email, SMS, WhatsApp, web push | Starter and up |
| Checkout abandonment | Email or phone entered at checkout, no order | 20 to 60 minutes | Email, SMS, WhatsApp | Starter and up |
| Exit intent offer | Shopper moves to leave the site or returns later | Instant, onsite | Popup or slide-in | Starter and up |
| Failed payments and declined cards | Card declined on a one-time order | Timed to the decline code | Email, SMS | Growth and up |
| Back in stock alerts | A wanted item is restocked | When stock is back | Email, SMS, WhatsApp, web push | Growth and up |
| Price drop alerts | A viewed or carted item gets cheaper | When the price changes | Email, SMS, WhatsApp, web push | Growth and up |
| Subscription dunning | A renewal fails on Shopify subscription apps, Recharge or WooCommerce Subscriptions | Timed to the decline code | Email, SMS | Scale and up |
| Churn recovery | A buyer passes their predicted reorder window | Days, by reorder pattern | Email, SMS, WhatsApp | Scale and up |
| Retargeting audiences | Abandoned segments sync to ad platforms as hashed lists | Ongoing sync | Ad audiences | Scale and up |
Channels always depend on consent. A shopper who only agreed to email gets email. Quiet hours follow the shopper's time zone, so nobody gets a text at 2 a.m.
A single "you forgot something" flow treats every shopper the same. Loyal customers get a coupon they did not need. Bargain hunters get no reason to come back. Failed card payments get a marketing email instead of a payment fix.
The Recovery Brain looks at the shopper first. It reads customer type, lifetime value, cart value, discount history, consent per channel, time zone, device, abandonment stage, decline code and stock level. Then it picks the channel, the delay, the offer and the message.
Three example decisions:
Your guardrails always win. Set a maximum discount, a minimum margin, no-discount lists for VIPs and sale items, quiet hours and frequency caps. Discount codes are unique and single use, so they do not leak to coupon sites.

CartAbandon answers yes to each one. Holdout groups are on Scale and Plus. Everything else above is on Growth and up, and the basics are on Starter.
Connect your store and CartAbandon reads carts, checkouts, orders and stock.
One small async script runs on your storefront. All recovery logic runs on our servers, so your pages stay fast. The script uses only first-party, strictly necessary identifiers and fires no ad pixels before consent.

A recovered-cart attempt is a cart, checkout or payment that enters a recovery flow. Email sends are unlimited within those attempts. At 80 percent use you see an upgrade prompt. At 100 percent, new attempts pause and running ones finish. Nothing is billed per message.
FAQ
It is a tool that follows up with shoppers who left without buying. CartAbandon sends recovery messages by email, SMS, WhatsApp, web push or an onsite offer, and covers checkouts, failed payments and lapsed buyers too.
